AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio spoke with County Commissioner Mike Dawson this morning about the payroll issue affecting Chattooga County employees.
Dawson explained that the reason employees got their paychecks early during Thanksgiving was because the county offices were closed on Thursday and Friday for the holiday. County workers get paid bi-weekly and the next pay day falls on December 26th, Friday the day after Christmas. Since county offices and banks will be open on the 26th, payroll will be paid on that day.
Some county workers had expected their pay checks early, but since the pay day is not a holiday they will be paid on Friday.
