In a land-swap for utilities deal, the City of Summerville and Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry appear to have reached an agreement on some vacant property owned by the county in the northern part of the city.

The land, off of Farrar Drive in Summerville, is not being used by the county and the city is evidently eyeing the property for a possible sight for a new fire hall.

The Summerville News reported last week that the city has agreed to give the county $20,000 in credit towards the county’s sewer bill at the Chattooga County Jail in exchange for a deed to the property.

The council voted unanimously to accept the deal at last week’s city council meeting.
