Starting today, stores located outside municipalities in Chattooga County will be able to sell beer on Sunday.  The new measure was approved by county voters.

Some stores located inside municipal limits in Chattooga County were already allowed to sell alcohol on Sundays, but this law will allow stores in the county to sell beer and wine starting at 12:30 PM on Sundays.

Voters approved the measure by about 58% in the recent General Primary Election held in May.  Also, voters approved a measure that would allow alcohol pouring licenses in county restaurants.  That measure passed with 62% of county residents voting in favor.

Both new measures go into place today.
