The Chattooga County Water District will be replacing several old water lines thanks to a Community Development Block Grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

Many of the water lines on the list to be replaced are some of the oldest water lines in the district and are primarily located in the northwest portion of the county.  Those areas slated for upgraded water lines include: Stoleman Road, Dakota Drive, Lowrance Drive, Choctaw Drive, Tinney Drive, Cofield Drive, West Halls Valley Drive, Bandy Dairy Road and Hope Drive.

Also the grant will provide for a new main water line from Wells No.1, 2 and 5 that connect to the main on Old Highway 337.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a federally funded block grant to states that focuses on areas of low- to moderate-income people, by providing resources for livable neighborhoods, economic empowerment, and decent housing.
