Summerville Police responded to a call at the Amoco gas station on Commerce Street last Thursday about a man who was acting strangely.
When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a drill sitting in the parking lot and men’s clothing strewn everywhere. The store clerk told officers that the man was scaring his customers and that the suspect had stolen a fountain drink.
Police located the suspect who was running through a nearby wooded area, yelling. Once officers were able to speak with the man, they could tell he was under the influence of drugs. Police spoke with the woman who was with the suspect and she told them that he had been acting strangely for some time.
The woman gave officers permission to search the vehicle and they found suspected methamphetamine and marijuana inside. Also, officers found a straw with suspected methamphetamine inside the woman’s pocketbook. The woman said it wasn’t hers and the she was just “holding it” for the man, because she was four-months pregnant and didn’t do drugs.
Officers arrested twenty-eight-year-old Travis Murray and thirty-five-year-old Heidi Nicole Carter and booked them into the Chattooga County Jail on drug possession charges.
