A man and woman from Dalton were killed Sunday evening when their motorcycle was "sideswiped" by a pickup truck on Highway 225 South in Murray County, officials said. The woman was in the latter stages of a pregnancy.

Ty Woods, 39, of 4260 Brown Bridge Road, was killed instantly when a 1998 Ford Ranger driven by David Sloane, 55, of Dalton, crossed the center line near North Georgia Raceway Road at 8:15 p.m. and hit the motorcycle, said an operator with the Georgia State Patrol. The state patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating and charges are pending against Sloane. Sloane did not immediately return a phone call on Monday.

April Lynthlin, 29, of Cedar Ridge Road, died Sunday during surgery at Hamilton Medical Center, the state patrol operator said. Her child was to be named Cara Marie Woods, according to an obituary from Ponders Funeral Home.

A spokeswoman at Hamilton Medical Center said Sloane was treated and released after the wreck.
