A Chattooga County deputy was called to the Dollar General Store in Gore last week after a woman said a couple had used her debit card to purchase groceries.  According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, the complainant said that she had left her buggy near the cash register and when she returned her wallet was missing.

Video surveillance footage from the store revealed that a suspect, identified in the report as William Anthony, got the complainant’s wallet out of her buggy and then took out a debit card from the complainant’s wallet and purchase his buggy full of groceries.

While the complainant was searching for her wallet, William Anthony’s wife, identified as Amy Anthony, was supposedly helping the complainant look for her wallet while her husband used the complainant’s debit card.   The Anthony’s later approached the complainant in the parking lot and told her that they had found her wallet in the parking lot.  But when the complainant looked inside her wallet, she could tell that her debit and credit cards had been rearranged.

The responding deputy reviewed video footage at the store and spoke with a store employee about the incident.  The case is under investigation by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
