The Coosa River Basin Initiative (CRBI) has an online tool for those who frequent Northwest Georgia’s rivers and enjoy swimming.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, CRBI collects water samples each Thursday at popular boat ramps and public beaches from Weiss Lake to Allattoona Lake and the rivers in between. E.coli results are posted each Friday afternoon, just in time for you to make your weekend plans.
There are two Chattooga River access points in Chattooga County that are included in the monitoring – the kayak launch near the Lyerly Dam and the other access is at the launch in Chattoogaville. There are also several locations in Cherokee County, Alabama on Weiss Lake that are part of the monitoring.
