Dade County, Georgia was hit hard by the tornadoes of April 27 that left so much destruction across Alabama and Georgia. Homes and businesses were damaged and in some cases totally blown away. Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett organized a "Ride for Releif" from Chattooga County that raised some $1600 and several truckloads of goods for the storm victims. Also Chattooga Family Connection sent truckloads of suppplies to the Dade County area.
Now as Dade County continues it’s struggle with the cleanup after the storms, there are other set-backs.
The Dade County Library lost it’s funding from the state of Georgia for the master degree librararian and she has been replaced by a locally paid library worker. Also the Dade County Extension office is closing. Norman Edwards, the Walker County Cooperative Extension Agent had been going to Trenton to keep the office open, but that will end on July 31. Part-time workers will keep the 4H program going in Dade County.
