Democratic candidate for the United States Congress Wendy Davis was on hand Monday evening to address Chattooga County Democrats.

Davis is one of five people who have announced their intentions to challenge Congresswoman Marjorie Greene in next year’s election.  So far, four Democrats and one Republican have said they will run in 2022.

Chattooga County Democratic Party Chair Cynthia Hubler said that Davis received an enthusiastic welcome and took questions from the group at the meeting.

Davis told Chattooga County Democrats, “I’m prepared to put all of my energy into taking care of us.”

Davis serves as a Rome City Commissioner.  She announced her candidacy in early June and has since raised over $100,000 for her campaign.

Meanwhile, Rep. Greene is reporting nearly $350,000 in cash on hand but according to campaign disclosures released in early July, Greene’s campaign owes Rep. Greene over $500,000 from a personal loan she gave to herself in 2020.
