Chattooga County Deputies responded to a domestic dispute this week that started with a motel stay and ended in arrest. On December 16th, Deputies were dispatched to a Sloppy Floyd Lake Rd. address for a domestic between a male and female and while en route Deputies were advised that the male subject had a baseball bat and was striking the females vehicle. Arriving at the scene Deputies encountered the male subject, Jeremy Bruce walking away from the damaged vehicle with his hands in his pocket. As Deputies exited their patrol car, Bruce began yelling profanities at the officers and advancing on them. After being instructed several times to remove his hand from his pocket and get on the ground, Mr. Bruce finally complied, was detained, and questioned. Mr. Bruce stated that he was angry that his girlfriend had taken money and would not give it back.

After detaining Bruce, Deputies spoke with the compliant, Ms. Crystal Clark. Clark advised that Jeremy Bruce had given her $130 the night before and they had stayed in a motel room. When they woke up that day, Bruce had started drinking and Ms. Clark was not happy with this. An argument ensued and at this time Ms. Clark decided just to bring Mr. Bruce home. Once home, her vehicle had gotten stuck and while awaiting a wrecker, Mr. Bruce for reasons unknown began attacking her vehicle with a bat. Mr. Bruce struck the back driver side window causing it to bust.

Mr. Bruce was placed under arrest and transported to the Chattooga County Jail. He is being charged with simple assault and criminal damage to property in the 1st.
