Chattooga County youth aged 11 to 17 have a final opportunity to secure their spot in the Chattooga County Extension’s “Into the Wild” Summer Camp, with registration closing today at 5 PM. This overnight camp, organized by the University of Georgia Extension, Chattooga County, is set to take place on July 11th and 12th at Sloppy Floyd State Park’s Pioneer Camp. It promises an immersive outdoor experience designed to connect young people with nature and teach valuable wilderness skills.
For just $20 per child, participants will delve into a range of outdoor adventures. The curriculum includes practical survival tips, an engaging hiking tour, and hands-on learning such as plant identification, cooking, and fishing. Evenings will feature classic camp traditions including bonfires, campfire songs, and crafts, fostering camaraderie and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
The camp is specifically tailored for ages 11 to 17. Pickup and drop-off will both occur at the Chattooga County Extension Office. Campers will be dropped off at 11 AM on July 11th and picked up at 9 AM on July 12th.
