A domestic dispute across the state line in DeKalb County, Alabama left one man dead – and another wounded.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that the incident started in the area of Shiloh Nazarene Church on County Road 155 in the Higdon community at the home of 40 year old Cody Wade.

Wade's mother told officers her son, and a female friend, had been involved in an argument earlier in the evening and she had called someone to give her a ride; according to the report two men, identified as Barry White and William Gilreath – soon arrived at Wade's residence to give the woman a ride.

It appears that Wade attempted to get into the vehicle himself, and the driver, White, pulled away; at that point Wade reportedly started shooting toward the car; both men were struck by bullets, causing White to crash the car into a ditch near the church.

White later died from his injuries. No information is being released regarding the extent of Gilreath's injuries.

Wade was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with the incident and bail has yet to be set.
