The DeKalb County (Alabama) Fair got underway yesterday in Ft. Payne.
The fair will be in town Monday through Saturday. Gates open at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
On Monday, the Southern rock and country band Flat Busted will entertain at 7 p.m. Riders pay $15 to enjoy the Midway rides all night on Tuesday. The Tina Marie Band will begin at 7 p.m.
Wednesday’s entertainment will be Ryan and Reno at 7 p.m. Thursday is two for one night on the Midway only. One person pays full price for ride tickets and the second person rides for free. The entertainment for the evening will be the Golden Girl Contest at 7 p.m.
Friday will feature Bluegrass Boulevard presented by the Big Wills Art Council at 7 p.m.
Saturday is kid’s day. Gates open at 10 a.m., and children and teachers are admitted free with passes. The kid’s day ride-a-thon continues until 3 p.m., and the price is $12.
The fair will remain open at 3 p.m. until close.
Saturday entertainment begins at 5 p.m., featuring the 19th annual gospel singing.
The Sharps, Parish Family and Anchormen will perform with Rowlan Walls serving as emcee.
Admission is $3 for 12 years or older, $1 for children under 12, and children under 6 are admitted free with a paying adult.
