Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is now mailing postcards to customers who are eligible to renew a license or identification card or request a license upgrade via the Internet. The postcard replaces the previously mailed information packet which was larger and more expensive to mail.

“Our new Internet services support the DDS mission by improving customer convenience. The postcard is a cost saving reminder; however, customers may still access Internet transactions if the postcard is misplaced,” said Gregory C. Dozier, DDS commissioner.

Qualified customers are mailed a postcard reminder about 60 days before their license or ID expiration. This allows ample time to conduct transactions online.

Class D license holders eligible for a license upgrade will also receive a reminder just in time before their 18th birthday.

To be eligible, customers cannot have any suspensions on their driving record and will have a photograph and signature on file at DDS.

Other new Internet services include the ability to create a secure personal customer account and conduct multiple transactions at one time; order a certified driving history (MVR); check moving violation points; pay Fail to Appear (FTA) fees to reinstate a license; order an identification card if you have a driving record on file.

DDS will continue to identify cost-saving and efficient methods to improve customer service.

Additional Internet enhancements currently being developed are the ability to make a road test reservation and pay online as well as reinstatement of a license and pay online.
