Last Saturday, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a woman being bitten by a dog in Lyerly.

According to the report from the sheriff’s office, Wilene Bishop told a responding deputy that the dog had bitten her and she wished to make a report.  The owner of the dog was identified as Rufus Hickman.  Hickman told the deputy that the dog was up-to-date on shots.  The deputy advised Mr. Hickman that Chattooga County Animal Control would pick up the dog because it had bitten someone.

The victim was taken by family members to the hospital for treatment.
