A Chattooga County deputy was called to a Mahan Road residence after someone reported that their dog had been shot by a BB gun.

The responding deputy talked with the complainant who said that they had gone to the store at the corner of Mahan Road and Highway 48 and when they returned, they found their dog bleeding in the yard.

The complainant said that she believed the wound was caused by a BB gun and said that there was a person in the neighborhood that was known for shooting animals with a BB gun.

The incident is under investigation.
