The GBI has been called in to assist in an investigation after an officer-involved shooting in Gordon County.

According to a press release from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s deputies were involved in a high-speed chase that crossed jurisdictional lines around 1 AM on Tuesday morning.

The pursuit ended south of Calhoun when the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway and crashed in a culvert. After the crash, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

No deputies or other peace officers were hurt.

Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) were on-scene Tuesday at the request of the Sheriff’s Office and will conduct the investigation.
