The private educational services sector also contributed strongly, expanding by 1,700 positions, likely reflecting the state’s commitment to investing in its educational infrastructure. Furthermore, the information sector, including the thriving motion picture and sound recording industries, saw a noteworthy increase of 1,500 jobs.

The positive employment trends were mirrored in the state’s labor force, which also reached a record high of more than 5.4 million workers. Impressively, the labor force participation rate held steady at 61.8%, indicating that a significant portion of the working-age population in Georgia remains actively engaged in the job market. However, the state did experience a slight decline in the number of employed Georgians, falling for the first time since last November to just over 5.2 million. This dip was accompanied by a rise in the number of unemployed individuals, which increased to 192,612, the highest level since July 2021.

Despite this slight downturn, the overall employment landscape in Georgia remains robust, as evidenced by the significant drop in initial unemployment claims, which declined by 4,067 in August to 23,198. This data suggests that the state’s economic recovery continues to gain momentum, with employers actively seeking to fill open positions and workers confidently re-entering the labor force.
