A Floyd County man is facing child molestation and statutory rape charges after DNA evidence proved that he fathered the child of teenager.

WRGA in Rome reports that the thirty-five-year-old Rome man has been jailed on felony warrants charging him with child molestation and statutory rape.

According to the warrants:

Hugo Mendoza Lopez is accused of molesting and having sex with a teenage girl on several occasions between December 1, 2021, and August 1, 2022.

The victim had a child and DNA results confirmed that Lopez is the father.
