A Kay Drive, Summerville man reported that his white dog had been shot with a pellet rifle on Friday of last week.

A Chattooga County sheriff’s deputy responded to the call and found a puncture wound in the left shoulder area of the animal and there was fresh blood around the wound.

The complainant advised the deputy that there was a male subject living on Memorial Drive that had shot the dog because it was in his yard.  When the complainant confronted the other man about shooting the dog, an argument ensued.

The deputy talked with the man who had shot the dog.  The man told the deputy that the dog had come into his yard and was harassing his dog who was properly restrained in the back yard of his residence.  He said he shot the dog to get it to leave his property.

The deputy referred the matter to Chattooga County Animal Control and referred both parties to Chattooga County Magistrate Court about the issue.
