Last week, the Dollar General Store located on Commerce Street in Summerville was forced to close after a portion of the roof collapsed following heavy rains.  WZQZ reached out to Dollar General Corporation, headquartered in Goodletsville, Tennessee, to ask how long the store would be closed.

Company officials said in a statement to WZQZ, “(The store) is currently closed as we repair damages to the building. At this time, we hope to reopen in the coming months. We apologize for the any inconvenience this may cause our Chattooga County customers and in the meantime, we encourage them to visit our nearby Summerville store located at 356 Highway 114”.

The damage to the building was in the receiving area, according to store employees.

Dollar General also operates stores in Trion, Menlo, Lyerly and Gore in addition to the two stores in Summerville.
