A downed tree left residents in the Oak Hill-Alpine Road area without power on Saturday morning.

The tree came down in the early morning hours and fell into power lines, leaving hundreds of people without power.

Chattooga County Public Works Director Joe Reed told WZQZ News on Saturday that county public works crews were left with no choice but to close down the road until Georgia Power Crews could arrive.  Reed said that power lines were downed at the same time, making the situation dangerous for public works crews to remove the trees from the road.

Georgia Power crews were dispatched and worked in the area the better part of the day on Saturday.  Power was restored to most people on Saturday by mid-afternoon after being out since before daylight.
