A longtime downtown Summerville favorite is preparing to say goodbye. Sugarville Sweets Bakery, Coffee & Café has announced it will close its doors after 10 and a half years in business, marking the end of an era for many local customers.

In a message shared with the community, the owner described the decision as extremely difficult but reflected with gratitude on the journey. The bakery thanked its customers, family, friends, and staff for years of support, encouragement, and dedication that helped make Sugarville Sweets a staple in downtown Summerville.

While the bakery will be closing locally, the owner shared that a new opportunity for growth and expansion is on the horizon outside of Chattooga County. If plans move forward, the business is expected to reopen in late January in a new capacity, offering cake and cookie decorating classes.

Sugarville Sweets’ last day of operation will be Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, with doors closing at 4 p.m. Following the closure, the bakery will be open Friday and Saturday, Dec. 26 and 27, to sell equipment and items no longer needed. A list of available items is expected to be posted soon, and community members are encouraged to share the information with anyone in need of bakery equipment.

The owner also noted that last-minute orders are still being accepted and encouraged customers to call, text, or message the bakery directly.
