A teen was rescued from the Etowah River Friday afternoon after her pickup truck went into the water.
According to Sgt. Pledger with Rome Police, the driver was driving too fast for conditions when she hydroplaned along Riverbend Drive behind Riverbend Shopping Center.
The truck hit the sidewall and flipped several times before coming to rest in the river.
The driver was able to escape through the sunroof and rode on top of the truck until it sank.
Rome Police and Rome-Floyd Fire Department crews were able to throw her a rope and pull her to safety.
No injuries were reported.
The incident happened around 4:10 pm.
