A half-way house resident is accused of having drugs a local rehab facility, According to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office incident report, deputies were called to Freedom Counseling Services, which is a drug rehabilitation half-way house for men, on Sizemore Road in Trion concerning a domestic incident.

The director of the facility, David Burris, said James Gross had checked himself into the facility. Two hours after arriving, another resident informed Burris that Gross was smoking marijuana at the facility. A crack pipe reportedly was found in the cushions of a sofa where Gross had been sitting. When Gross was told to hand over what was in his pockets, he reportedly handed over a bag containing suspected marijuana and methamphetamine.

According to the report, when Gross realized his probation officer and 911 were notified, he became irate and began to attack Burris in order to get the drugs back. After a brief struggle, Gross was able to get the crack pipe but not the drugs and fled.

A field test on the suspected marijuana and meth tested positive for both, according to the report. The report does not say that Gross was arrested. He is not listed on the arrest report for Tuesday or Wednesday.
