Parking is an issue at the new Menlo Elementary School right now, but school officials say that the hot, dry weather we are having could make things better in the near future.
Chattooga County Board of Education Chairman Eddie Elsberry told WZQZ News this week that workers have been held up because of wet conditions over the past several weeks. Elsberry said, “The frequency of rain and storms we have had has made it impossible to move dirt in front of the school to get it on grade. We hope this dry weather allows us to get to the point where curbs can be poured, then grade and asphalt”.
Elsberry said that bulldozers and dump trucks were getting stuck in the back of the school building from the wet conditions.
School officials are hopeful that the remaining work on the grounds and parking lot can be completed within the next few weeks.
