Two women that police say claimed their son was killed in a car wreck in Florida have been indicted by a Floyd County Grand Jury. 

According to previous reports, 69-year-old Nancy Kay Bennett and 53-year-old Theresa Lynne Duffy, received $350 after telling the sob story, saying they needed money for travel and meals so they could pay their last respects.

The women actually used the money to purchase narcotics, according to police.  

The “Scam Sisters” apparently made a stop here in Chattooga County as well, prior to their arrests

A Summerville man had reported to authorities that while watching the news on television he'd recognized two women that, at that time, had just recently been arrested in Rome for running a scam.

He said the pair came to his church and told the congregation they needed money for travel expenses and gasoline because a family member had just died in an auto accident in Florida

He stated that a total of $172 was taken up for one of the woman who was calling herself “Pam Green” and he added that she requested only cash, no checks.

According to the incident report the suspect calling herself Pam Green was actually Theresa Duffy.

Both women list their address as being West Big Indian Trail in Floyd County.

They have been indicted on charges of exploitation of the elderly. 

Bennett is out of jail on bond while Duffy remains behind bars.
