Judge J. Bryant Durham will be presiding over a bond hearing today for Matt Dunagan to get Dunagan released from Wilcox State Prison in South Georgia. Dunagan has been there since May 2006 when he was convicted by a Floyd County jury in 2006 of reckless driving, serious injury by reckless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device. The accident left Candice Bendeck of Rome severely injured and disabled. Earlier this week the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that there was evidence that there were design flaws at the intersection of GA 53 and Burlington Drive where the wreck happened. That evidence was excluded from Dunagan’s trial. Dunagan’s family has indicated that they will make the trip to South Georgia to pick him up from prison as soon as bond is granted.
