Early voting continues this week in the Republican Primary Runoff election in Chattooga County. Voting is taking place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office on Commerce Street in Summerville.
As of Friday at close of day, the Registrars Office said that 617 Chattooga County voters had cast their ballots. Voters are voting in a Congressional runoff between Dr. John Cowan and Marjorie Greene. Also, there are two local races to determine the GOP candidate for Chattooga County Commissioner and Probate Judge.
News came on Friday last week that two county employees had tested positive for COVID-19. That prompted the closing of the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex. The Registrars Office remains open, but County Commissioner Jason Winters says that voters coming to vote this week are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Masks will be provided to voters if they don’t have one.
Voting takes place from 8:30-5 PM Monday – Friday. This Saturday, voters can vote at the Registrars Office from 9 AM until 1 PM.
