Early voting begins today, Tuesday, May 27th, for the party primaries that will select candidates for two important positions on the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC).

The main topic in this election is the price of utilities. The PSC, made up of five members, is crucial for regulating public utilities in Georgia. It ensures that consumers receive safe, reliable, and fairly priced telecommunications, electric, and natural gas services.

Election Day is on June 17th, but voters can vote early until June 13th. Voters must have registered by May 19th and select either a Democratic or Republican ballot.

Candidates include Republican incumbents Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson, along with Democrat Alicia Johnson, who is unopposed. Four Democrats are competing in District 3. The results will influence utility regulation in the state.

All early voting in Chattooga County takes place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office located on Commerce Street in Summerville.
