The Chattooga County Commissioner’s office and Keep Chattooga Clean program will be hosting the first Earth Day Celebration today at Dowdy Park in Summerville.

The event will promote the county’s recycling and litter control projects. The Earth Day celebration will be a fun filled family event from 11 AM until 3 PM. A recycling trailor will be on hand and those attended are encouraged to bring their recyclable items, each child who brings an item can enter a duck race in the creek for prizes plus other events are planned for children.

The Chattooga County Extension Agency assisted by 4- H, will be present with educational booths, Georgia Power will distribute information on the green energy program and the Commissioners office will have a food booth, and will give away reusable shopping bags donated by Wal Mart.
