In a 4-1 vote, Eddie Elsberry was elected as the new chairman of the Chattooga County Board of Education.

The meeting took place on Thursday evening at the board room at the Chattooga County Education Center.  Elsberry, the only Democrat on the Board of Education was elected chairman, replacing John Agnew.  The only member of the board to vote against Elsberry for the position was Dr. Julia Houston.

Brad Hayes was elected vice-chair by a unanimous vote.

In other business, the board voted to move the SPLOST vote from March to May due to a clerical error at the Chattooga County Election Superintendent’s Office.
