A former employee of Floyd Medical Center was charged on Saturday morning with misdemeanor theft by taking and misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property after he used his key to get into a utility room to steal, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Ryan Shea Smith, 37, of 101 Stringer Road, Rockmart, allegedly took “sharps” from the soiled utility room at the hospital. The report did not specify what “sharps” were and the value of the items was not known.
Smith used a key he had and did not turn into the hospital when he was terminated.
In addition to the theft charges, Smith is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug related objects.
He remained in jail on Saturday night.
