A three-panel committee made up of three Northwest Georgia mayors, including Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey, is hearing ethics complaints against a Rome City Commissioner.

Bremen Mayor Sharon Sewell, Adairsville Mayor Kenneth Carson and Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey, were chosen as the three members of the Ethics Investigating Committee by the Georgia Municipal Association, met with the prosecutor Chris Balch, for approximately 30 minutes on Wednesday morning, via Zoom.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, at 10:30 AM in the City Commission Chambers at Rome City Hall, 601 Broad St.

That meeting will be open to the public.

The complaints center around allegations of abrasiveness toward staff members and questions about whether Rome City Commissioner Mark Cochran faced a conflict of interest or had a financial interest in projects that came before the Rome City Commission.
