Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign

Historically, the number of drunk driving arrests increases in the month of August.  In Chattooga County there has been an increase in the number of arrests being made by state and local law enforcement for driving under the influence over the past three weeks.

With Labor Day weekend coming up the first weekend of September, you can expect more law enforcement to be on area roadways looking for drunk drivers.

Memorial Day is considered the “kick-off” and Labor Day is the “wrap-up” of the summer driving season.  Fourteen people lost their lives on Georgia’s roadways this past Memorial Day.

In Georgia, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety launches Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over during high-travel holidays like July 4th, Labor Day and Christmas/New Year’s (in addition to popular drinking occasions like the Super Bowl, St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo) to reinforce the message that we are a zero-tolerance state. If you’re over the limit, you’ll be under arrest.
