This Sunday, the Chattooga County Historical Society, in collaboration with Summerville Main Street, invites locals and history enthusiasts alike to join in a captivating series of History Walks through the historic Summerville Cemetery.

The tours are scheduled for 1:30 PM and 2:15 PM, departing from the front gate area of the cemetery. Participants will have the unique opportunity to interact with actors portraying a diverse array of historical figures, including merchants, farmers, the murdered, and enslaved individuals, as well as someone connected to the Revolutionary War era. These immersive experiences promise to bring history to life, offering attendees an engaging glimpse into the past.

The day will culminate at 3:00 PM with a dedication ceremony for the new brick columns located on the Henderson Street side of the cemetery. These columns are dedicated in memory of Bob and Claire Baker, with Bob being honored for his invaluable contributions as the county historian and his extensive writings on the history of Chattooga County. Additionally, for those interested in preserving local heritage, Gary Morgan and Savannah Winn will be present to discuss the cleaning and restoration of gravestones, providing insights and guidance for maintaining the memory of those who have passed.
