Georgia’s Tomato Farmers are not happy with the government’s handling of the recent "tomato scare".

Losses in the $1.3 billion market for fresh tomatoes has topped over $100 million this summer after a recent outbreak of salmonella that sickened over 900 people in 40 states including Georgia.

Many tomato farmers have plowed under their fields of tomatoes due to the problems marketing the summertime favorite crop.  Meanwhile, they are calling for an investigation by Congress into the governements handling of the salmonella outbreak that officials are saying now might not have been caused by tomatoes in the first place.
