A father and his daughter both got a ride to the Chattooga County Jail after a traffic stop in Lyerly on August 10th, according to an incident report released by the sheriff’s office this week.
According to the report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy noticed a vehicle swerving while traveling north on Highway 117 near the Mohawk Plant. When the deputy initiated a traffic stop, he asked the driver – identified as Kevin Edwards – why he was swerving, he admitted to drinking five to fix beers and that he was intoxicated. Officers searched the vehicle and found suspected marijuana and prescription pills.
The passenger in the vehicle was Edwards’ daughter, Lauren Edwards. Ms. Edwards had a strong smell of marijuana on her person, according to deputies. It was also discovered that Ms. Edwards had an active warrant.
Both father and daughter were taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
