A forty-two-year-old Summerville man and his seventeen-year-old daughter were both taken to jail this week after a domestic altercation at their home on West Washington Street. 

According to a report from Summerville Police, officers responded to a call on Monday and spoke with Richard Gregory Teems who said that he and his daughter had been arguing and admitted to slapping her.  He also told police that his daughter is constantly fighting with him and her mother and has,  in the past, pushed him out of his wheelchair and has struck both him and her mother in the past.

Officers spoke with the daughter, Gabrielle Elizabeth Teems, and she admitted to hitting her father and told police it all started when she called her mother a “retard”.  She told police she started the argument because she doesn’t like having to share a room with her sister.

Both father and daughter were taken to the Chattooga County Jail and were charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act.
