Two people escaped life-threatening injuries after the Volkswagen Beetle in which they were riding crossed the median on the Rome bypass and ended up wedged between two trees before bursting into flames.
The vehicle was headed east on the bypass between Old Calhoun Road and Kingston Highway, when it left the roadway.
Traffic on the loop was partially blocked around 9:20 p.m.
The two people were taken to Floyd Medical Center.
