The Hospital at Hutcheson in Ft. Oglethorpe will close the first week in December with their property hitting the auction block December 3rd.

However that does not include the Parkside at Hutcheson Nursing Home, which is expected to sell while still in operation.

At one time, Hutcheson employed some 900 people, and was the primary source of indigent care for Walker, Dade and Catoosa counties.

Although offers have been made for the hospital property, on each occasion, principle "lien-holders" dismissed them as being "too low".  The hospital has been operating in bankruptcy for more than a year and reportedly owes its creditors in excess of $80 million.
