Units from the Cedar Bluff, Centre and Gaylesville Fire Departments, responded to a report of a structure fire Tuesday morning with the call coming in just before 7:30.

Firefighters arrived the location – on Forrest Street off of Highway 9 in Cedar Bluff – to find smoke billowing from the roof.

A neighbor reported that the family was out of town and firefighters were forced to break in the front door, in order to gain entry – they were able to get a knockdown on the blaze in just a matter of minutes with the residence receiving only a moderate amount of damage.

Centre Fire Chief Kevin Ware said the initial investigation led to the conclusion that the fire apparently started from a space heater.
