Chattooga County School Supt. Jared Hosmer says that a student at Chattooga High School was found with a gun in their possession on Friday.  According to the superintendent, someone reported that the student had the firearm in their bookbag.

Hosmer says that school officials immediately contacted the School Resource Officer.  Hosmer said, ” The School Administration and School Resource Officer found the student and the weapon. Both the student and the weapon were in the custody of the School Administration and the School Resource Officer within 5 minutes of receiving the report. At no time was the weapon brandished or anyone threatened”.

Hosmer added, “CHS Administration and the District take the safety of our students very seriously. Steps were taken to eliminate any threat which resulted in no immediate danger to staff or students”.
