The event was hosted by Barbara Massey-Reece and Odell Anderson; guest speakers for the day included Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey, and Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters, both honoring veteran's with a well deserved proclamation.

Charles "Chuck" Alsobrook, of the Georgia Department of Veterans' Services, assured those in attendance that he office was always open to provide assistance in any way possible, and he added that he was physically in Chattooga County at least once a month.

Vietnam veterans Don Henderson and William McDaniel also spoke to those gathered – and Barbara Massey-Reece read a letter to the crowd from U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson in which he expressed his sincere appreciation for their service.

A total of 65 veterans attended the first annual Chattooga County Vietnam Veterans Luncheon – the next service will include the awarding of service pins and certificates; that occurring when the list of Vietnam Veterans residing in Chattooga County has been completed.
