The first day of early voting in Chattooga County saw a record number of voters turn out to cast their ballots in the runoff election between incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker his Republican Challenger.

The Chattooga County Registrars Office reported over 600 voters turned out to vote in the runoff race on Monday.  That broke a previous record of 475 ballots in one day which was achieved on the last day of the 2020 General Election early voting period.

Statewide, 239,160 Georgians cast their ballot, according to Interim Deputy Secretary of State Gabriel Sterling. This beats the previous record for early voting in one day of over 233,252 votes in 2018.

Early voting ends this Friday, December 2nd.  All early voting in Chattooga County takes place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office, located at 10017 Commerce Street in Summerville, just south of the Chattooga County Courthouse.
