On Thursday, Barry Hurley with Southeast First National Bank in Summerville announced that the bank is providing the former bank building at the corner of East Washington Street and Commerce Street to Chattooga County to use as a Community Development Center.

Hurley stated, “T. Fay and Sue Hurley, the long time Chairman and President of our institution, respectively, always envisioned using this building as a community center. After a prosperous year, we are excited to be able to provide this building to Chattooga County on a long term basis and to provide a gift to the County to remodel it into a Community Development Center for a “class A” meeting facility in our community”.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry said “It’s going to be a great benefit to the county and I am excited about the investment being made back into the community”.
