A NUMBER OF LAFAYETTE BUSINESSES WERE FLOODED IN THE THRIFTY CENTER AND BROOKWOOD SQUARE SHOPPING CENTERS.  MEDI-THRIFT PHARMACY HAD A FOOT OF WATER INSIDE THIS MORNING.  ACROSS THE STREET AT SHOPRITE SUPERMARKET, AN EMPLOYEE HAD TO BE RESCUED WHEN WATER TRAPPED HIM INSIDE THE BUILDING.  WATER POOLING UP AGAINST THE FRONT WALL OF THE FRED’S STORE CAUSED A 15-FOOT SECTION TO CAVE-IN.  THE LOWER SHELVES OF STOCK WERE RUINED THROUGHOUT THE FRED’S STORE.SUNDAY NIGHT, A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO EMERGENCY SHELTERS SET UP BY WALKER COUNTY AT THE CIVIC CENTER AND AT SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH IN LAFAYETTE A WOMAN AND HER INFANT WERE REPORTEDLY TRAPPED INSIDE THEIR CAR, FLOATING ALONG A SECTION OF HIGHWAY 341 SOUTH OF CHICKAMAUGA… AND A RESCUE WAS REQUIRED TO BRING THEM TO SAFETY.  COUNTY COORDINATOR DAVID ASHBURN SAID RESIDENTS OF THE HUNTER HILLS TRAILER PARK IN ROSSVILLE WERE STRANDED WHEN THEIR ACCESS ROAD WAS SWEPT AWAY BY FLOOD WATERS.  HEAVY FLOODING WAS REPORTED IN CHICKAMAUGA AND ROCK SPRING.  THE ROCK SPRING POST OFFICE AND A NEARBY HARDWARE BUSINESS WERE REPORTED FLOODED, ACCORDING TO WALKER COUNTY OFFICIALS
