According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Bart Canada, 29, is accused of taking his mother’s gun and starting a fight with her. The deputy, Nancy Canada, suffered a shoulder injury during the altercation but was not seriously hurt.
The suspect fled the home and was caught a short time later on Old Summerville Road near Armuchee High School. Police recovered the gun when they took Bart Canada into custody.
After Floyd County police took the man to jail, the suspect allegedly threatened to kill Sgt. Ray Logan and made threats to Pfc. Todd Jackson as well.
Bart Canada was charged with felony interference with government property, misdemeanor obstruction, felony terroristic threats and acts, misdemeanor public drunkenness, felony theft by taking and felony aggravated assault under the Family Violence statute.
