The criminal case against Chattooga County resident and former Floyd County Public Schools Maintenance Director Derry Richardson, and others including family members of Richardson, is on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Richardson and his co-defendants have been indicted three times due to previous delays and court proceedings.  The current indictments charge Richardson and the others with over 300 counts on charges ranging from racketeering to conspiracy and theft.

Floyd County Superior Court Judge Jack Niedrach says that he is getting guidance from the Georgia Supreme Court and is planning to file a new scheduling order for the trial sometime this week.

Richardson and the co-defendants are accused of stealing millions of dollars by creating inflated and fraudulent invoices for construction and maintenance projects.
